Double Cleanse, My Friends.

Every great skin care regime begins with one or two great cleansers. Cleansers not only clean your skin of impurities but can also address certain issues you have with your skin. I think its also important to ENJOY your cleansers.I will also be discussing why introducing a double cleanse into your regime might just be the most amazing thing ever.

Here I will help guide you into finding the best cleansers for you and your skin. There are many different factors that go into choosing the right cleansers, from texture to smell, to the concerns you have for your skin. I'll provide examples of cleansers as I go along.

First off, the way we start off a double cleanse is with some sort of makeup removing or what I like to call a Precleanse. Precleansers can be makeup wipes, micellar cleansers, and then we have oil cleansers. Oil cleansers are a fantastic precleanse! Shout out to Dermalogica skin care for they have one amazing oil cleansing precleanser that is called...wait for it... Precleanse. (5.2 oz appr. $42 USD) I was trained with Dermlogica in beauty school and it is a fantastic line. A precleanse is great for makeup and non makeup wearers, all ages, and skin types.

Now, we all have those long days and long nights where we just want to crash without taking the time to take our makeup off. Micellar cleanse + one cotton round, boom, got your self a water-less makeup remover, toner, and cleanser with it only taking approximately 30 seconds. Also, its a wonderful thing to have while traveling, making your skin care routine easy and do-able.

Pair one of the following cleansers below with any of the cleansers listed afterwards and your got yourself a customized double cleanse:

Rice Milk 3 in 1 Cleansing Water ($42)- Every single time I apply this to someones face they say, "That smells so good!". Every time. This is an all-natural cleanser, toner, and makeup remover. Super nutrient-rich rice milk hydrates and moisturizes the look of skin while tightening the appearance of pores.

Stone Crop Oil Cleanser *NEW! ($52) - I am so in love with our oil cleanser. It takes off makeup so easily, including eye makeup. It leaves my skin feeling super soft and hydrated. Stone crop brightens and reduces redness while potent micro greens protect against the aging effects of environmental stressors. (With my normal to combination, slightly sensitive skin, I follow this oil cleanser with my Stone Crop Gel Wash.)

So now we go on to cleansers that we use after our first precleanse. Foaming cleansers. A lot of people tend to like these because they can give you that squeaky clean feeling with lots of foamy suds. Most foaming cleansers tend to be for your oily to combination skin types. One of he most hydrating foaming cleansers I have come across is LOC'citane's 5% Shea Foaming Cleanser. (4.2 oz for $26) You get a super deep clean (especially when using a precleanser) but also get some super hydration. This does not leave skin feeling tight and uncomfortable. It's a wonderful simple formula for even sensitive skin.

Here are two of my best selling Eminence Organics foaming cleansers:

Stone Crop Gel Wash ($40) - This is one of those hydrating foaming cleansers that literally anyone and everyone can use. Any skin type, any age, can use this facial cleanser.  Stone crop is a very healing and hydrating plant. This is a great balancing cleanser that is good for even the most sensitive skin. Its even safe enough to use on babies! This cleanser is also great for your random breakouts and uneven skin tones.
Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser ($40) - This acne fighting cleanser is nice and foaming with a slight cooling sensation. It calms irritated skin, reduces acne and breakouts, while also helping reduce any pesky acne scars. This is one of my favorite cleansers for my acne clients because not only does it control oil but it does so without drying the life out of your skin. Even oily skin needs hydration. Cucumber and Tea Tree are the super hero ingredients in this acne, oil fighting, foaming cleanser.

Next we have our creamy cleansers. Creamy cleansers are going to great for your dryer, aging, and/or sensitive skin types. Creamy cleansers tend to be more hydrating and are not as abrasive to the skin. Everyone has a natural skin barrier and everyone's barrier is different. Some are more thin that others while some people have very thick barriers. Creamy cleansers are going to help keep thin barriers from being stripped away and while still gently cleansing your skin of other impurities.

I have three creamy cleansers that are great for very specific concerns: Brightening, Calming, or Anti-aging.

Bright Skin Cleanser ($40) - This creamy and brightening cleanser has a natural hydroquinone alternative: a natural brightening agent made with African potato and tara tree. This hydrates and helps improve uneven skin tones, sun spots, and even acne scars.

Calm Skin Chamomile Cleanser ($40) - This is for your dry, sensitive, and even great for rosacea skin types. Arnica and Chamomile helps to hydrate, reduce redness and rosacea, all while gently cleansing away dirt, makeup, and impurities.

Firm Skin Acai Cleanser ($40) - Creamy hydration and super plumping for fine lines and wrinkles!  Hyaluronic acid and seabuckthorn oil to restore the appearance of elasticity to the skin. Hyaluronic acid holds 1000 times its weight in water so its sweet for just your super dry skin types as well. Besides, we age everyday, so why not anti-age while you get moisture back into your skin.

Now we have our exfoliating cleansers for those who need a little scrub everyday to not just cleanse but to remove dead skin cells as well. Exfoliation is important but should be done correctly. Because everyone is so different, its is important to know your skin and how often it needs exfoliation. Sensitive and rosacea skin types needs a lot less exfoliation and their barrier are more easily damaged when over-exfoliated. So these exfoliating cleansers are going to best for your more naturally thicker skin barriers and usually tend to have larger pores. Depending on your skin, you may need one exfoliating cleanser at night and a more gentle one in the morning.

**If you need more help deciding how much exfoliation you need and what you need to exfoliate with, I recommend visiting your local esthetician.

Red Currant Exfoliating Cleanser ($40) - This one is for your dry AND oily, problem and aging skin. If you get breakouts, have super dry spots with oily t-zone and are struggling with first signs of aging, this is the one for you. Balancing, while removing dead skin and clearing out pores. Red currant is a super antioxidant to help prevent aging and keep your skin looking young

Monoi Age Corrective Exfoliating Cleanser ($40) -  So you already have lines and wrinkles and some sun damage? This is a great creamy, exfoliating cleanser. Gentle enough to use every day to reduce lines and wrinkles while still giving you some hydration. This has a natural retinol alternative that can help with sun damage as well! Turn back the time and get your skin young and glowing again.
